Marketing & Sustainability

It’s no longer true that organizations need to consumer a lot of resources (either theirs or the planets) in order to be “heard”.
Whether you are a small business, not-for-profit, or even a politician for that matter, it appears that with a little creativity and a strong understanding of the latest tools and techniques that the web has to offer, you too can be heard.
In fact, traditional forms of marketing communications are not only expensive, but they are proving to be increasingly ineffective at a time when people get more and more information about the products and services they buy from the Internet (and from one another).
Individuals are relying less and less on tradition marketing and communication channels (good-bye expensive advertising campaigns), and more and more on modern alternatives (hello blogs, social networking sites, and email marketing) when making decision on everything from what to buy, which movie to see, and the candidate most deserving of their vote.
This blog is all about what is new in the world marketing communications – what is working, what is not, and how the world of communication is changing right before our eyes. I am particularly interested in how the growing movement (ever so slowly unfortunately) towards sustainable consumption is affecting how we market and sell products – as well as the role for innovative marketing to encourage the consumption of sustainable goods/services from companies with a solid track record and commitment to corporate social responsibility.
Cheers,
